Winchester Peddle Paddle Pace Triathlon

Today I competed in the Winchester PPP triathlon to raise money for MacMillan Cancer support. I came 27th in total out of over 300 other competitors with a time of 1 hour 16 minutes and 57 seconds. So far I have raised over £190 and it keeps going up!

The Triathlon consisted of a 20km bike ride starting at the bottom of Winchester highstreet and finishing at the nearby Kings-gate Tennis Club. From the Tennis club there was A 5km run alongside the River Itchen out to the Hockly Viaduct and back again. The last stage of the race was A 2km Kayak down the Itchen.

I finished the cycle inside 38 minutes putting me in the top 15 at the end of the first stage. This was just over 7 minutes quicker than my origonal target time! In the run I averaged 5 minute kilometers to complete the run In A few seconds over 25 minutes which was the target time I was aiming for. The Kayak was the only part of the race I couldn't train for due to the lack of equipment and so set myself, what I thought, was a modest target time of 18 minutes. In fact I was far quicker than that and finished the 2km In A respectable 15 minutes.

I managed to get myself into the Hampshire Chronicle with a lovely picture of me and my other "gang" member James. Links to the picture, my just giving page where you can donate, and the official timing page are given below.
